At Federal Way Parks & Recreation, we extend our offerings beyond picnic rentals to include the opportunity to host special events at our facilities with the appropriate permits. Our picnic rental services provide an array of amenities to elevate your outdoor gatherings. From spacious picnic shelters furnished with tables and seating to meticulously maintained picnic areas featuring barbecue grills and restroom facilities, we ensure your comfort and convenience. Whether it’s a family reunion or a joyous day spent with friends, our parks offer the ideal venue right here in Federal Way.

Steel Lake Park
Steel Lake Park, located at 2410 S 312th St, has a children’s play structure, a sand volleyball pit, 5 rentable picnic areas, swimming, and a beautiful lakefront setting.

TOWN SQUARE PARK
Town Square Park, located at 31600 Pete von Reichbauer Way S., has an expansive grassy area, one rentable picnic area, basketball courts, a large children’s play area including a long zip line, and a seasonal water spray area. Town Square Park is the site of the official holiday tree for the City of Federal Way. Extra parking is available in the adjacent parking garage.

Civic Plaza Lawn
The Civic Plaza Lawn is available for Special Event Rentals only, located next to the Performing Arts & Event Center at 31510 Pete von Reichbauer Way S, Federal Way, WA 98003.
This space features a newly installed open turf lawn furnished with umbrella-covered picnic tables and lawn chairs. Please read our Special Event Guidelines before booking.

ALL PICNIC RENTALS REQUIRE AN ADDITIONAL $100 REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT.
- The City reserves the right to cancel a Park reservation at any time. Cancellations due to non-compliance with the reservation
guidelines and/or safety risk will not receive a refund of the reservation fees. - Fees are subject to change.
- All Damage deposits are refundable if Picnic Sites are left in good condition.
- Please refer to the reservation guidelines sheet for additional information.
- Electricity is limited at Steel Lake Park Site 1 and is not intended to run any type of commercial equipment.
CANCELLATIONS & DAMAGE DEPOSITS
- Cancellation requests must be given a minimum of two weeks prior to the reservation date and will receive a 50% refund.
- Cancellation requests made less than two weeks prior to the reservation date will not receive a refund.
- Cancellations will not be honored due to weather conditions.
- Rescheduling requests will be subject to the same terms and conditions as cancellations.
- Reservation fees paid by debit/credit card will be directly refunded to the card used for payment. Fees paid by cash or check will be refunded via check and will take approximately four weeks to process and arrive by mail.
- All damage deposits are refundable if Picnic Sites are left in good condition.
- Good condition: The Picnic Site is to be left in the condition it was found.
- No damage to the picnic site; including the ables, surrounding grass, trash receptacles, etc.
- All trash in trash cans, all decorations cleared from the area.
- No pinatas, confetti, glitter, confetti balloons, throwing of rice or birdseed. No releasing of balloons or animals, such as doves or butterflies into the environment.
